It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our office assistant Carol Batchelor on March 9, 2019 after a brief illness. Loving daughter of Marjorie of Oakville and sister of Susan (Drew) of Toronto, Carol is also survived by her sister-in-law Corrine and nieces Kate and Ana of Burlington. Carol will also be greatly missed by her aunts and uncles and many cousins. Carol was predeceased by both her father Robert (2014) and her brother Paul (2014).
A graduate of the University of Waterloo, Carol worked primarily as a writer/editor. She was a published author of the novel, Occam's Razor and several children's books. She was also a ghost writer on the popular children's animated series "Katie and Orbie".
Carol joined the Ontario Section IMSA as the office assistant in 2001. Carol was predeceased by her brother Paul Batchelor in January 2014 and it is through Paul that she became a part of the office operation for the IMSA Ontario Section. Carol was blessed with a quick wit and a love of laughter.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Carol are appreciated

Important School Information
The Fibre Optics Program Level I and Level II has been replaced with a single Fibre Optics program. The new program is a four (4) day program and a single day Certification Renewal program is also in the works. The new four-day Fibre Optics program will not be offered at the Annual School in March 2019 and will be provided on an as requested basis much like our On-Site schools. If you are interested in having the new four-day Fibre Optic program provided to your staff or company, please contact your IMSA Ontario Trillium Regional Director.
The Signs & Markings Level I, Pavement Marking Level II and Signs Technician Level II Certification Programs are not being offered at the Annual School in March 2019. In place of these programs the IMSA Ontario Trillium section will be presenting “A Practical Guide to Signs & Markings”. This new two-day program will be based exclusively on the Ontario Traffic Manual series of Books.
- Book 1a, 1b, 1c: Introduction to the OTM and general concepts of how the books are organized
- Book 2: Sign Patterns and Fabrications
- Book 5: Regulatory Signs
- Book 6: Warning Signs
- Book 7: Temporary Conditions
- Book 8: Guide Signs
- Book 11: Pavement Markings and Delineation
This Introductory program will provide guidance on how to interpret and use these manuals. While this new program is not a Certification program this course will include a test and confirmation that the student has participated and passed the test. This new program will more closely align with the needs of the Ontario traffic market and will provide valuable information to participants.
